Japanese Trapdoor Snails are a great addition to ponds and Aquariums!
These snails are excellent at feeding on algae, extra fish food, detritus, and even fish waste. Our snails are raised on our Koi farm with our Koi. This assures that are snails are fish safe and free of harmful parasites that wild collected snails may be harboring. We quarantine our snails to allow them to clean out any mud or waste before we ship them out to assure safe and clean shipping conditions. Our farm is located in Northeast Pennsylvania and our water temps vary from freezing to relatively warm in the summer months proving that they adapt well to a variety of water temperatures. If given the proper environment, these snails will reproduce in your pond or aquarium and are one of only two varieties of snails producing live miniature versions of themselves a couple times a year. However, they will not overpopulate a pond or aquarium like many other varieties of snails making them a great choice to help keep your pond or aquarium clean and free of algae. These snails are very sensitive to Copper and Salt so be sure your environment is safe before purchasing. They are also susceptible to certain medications so before treating your body of water make sure your medications are invertebrate safe or remove the snails while treating your fish.
