vintage go kart Mcculloch engines Two Mc92 & 91b1.These engines were acquired when I purchased a bug dual engine kart. The engines with clutches were run once on January 1, 2002 up and down a cul-de-sac prior to removal and replacement. The engines then went onto a shelf for the next 19+ years. I was told the previous owner had a scare on the first time out in the go kart and put it up for sale. I disassembled the spare MC 92 to get a rough measurement of the cylinder (stock I do believe )and check for wear. The Hone marks are gone and if you look in the left side of the exhaust port, it looks like there’s a little tiny divot taken off of the edge of the piston. The bore is otherwise smooth. The spark plug was in the motor and shows a decent mixture setting the last time it was run. (see photo) The carburetors are the most desirable BDC 14 and 23 models. (from what I have read by Steve O’Hara) It appears that someone removed the BDC 14 from the MC 92 and swapped it with the 91 to match carburetion. The exhaust fin on the bottom of the 91 has either been removed or came off flush. The PTO sides are clean. Wiping off the dust with a wet rag and minimal effort brought them to the point they are at now. Since these are racing engines, they should be completely gone through. Great winter project to freshen up that vintage kart for next season. These engines are getting harder to find in decent shape and a decent price.
