Description
Check out those young fool punks (I love that beer bottle in the back pocket)! 11"x14" lobby card for the 1957 movie The Delinquents, filmed by Robert Altman with Tommy Laughlin's (Billy Jack) first starring role.Scotty White (age 19) must stop 'going steady' with Janice Wilson (age 16) when Janice's parents intervene. Frustrated, idle and without Janice's restraining influence, Scotty encounters Cholly and his band of disorganized, fun-loving delinquents. Soon he has Janice (who seems considerably the more mature of the two) mixed up in their doings, which begin to seem less and less like harmless fun...
According to wikipedia, "Altman had the cooperation of local businesses as well as the Kansas City Police Department. Altman and Rhoden had actually gone to the police to make sure their portrayal of delinquents and their problems was accurate, and also contacted them in order to receive their cooperation for blocking off streets and using the police station for certain scenes. They also used real police officers as actors in the film."
Interesting side note: according to IMDB Alfred Hitchcock was impressed with it enough to hire Altman to direct episodes of the TV series Alfred Hitchcock Presents!
See high resolution image: this lobby card was obviously once actively used to advertise the flick. There is some wear and crinkling or bending at edges & corners. Staple holes at top and middle (5 sets each), corner pin holes. Tape on back edges. Image is otherwise fairly clean. Get a cheap frame and most of the flaws will be concealed!
