Rare 3 5/8" NEW ENGLAND GRAY GRANITE GOUGE or SCOOP

Description

This is a rare small New England gray granite gouge or scoop that shows good pecking and polishing. Stone is 3 5/8" long, 1 1/2" wide, and about 5/8" thick. It is definitely gouge shaped, but it looks like the bit end was never sharpened, so it seems more like it was used as a scoop of some sort. Condition is original and excellent with great patina. There is a slight ridge on the back that is about 1/3 down from the narrower end and certainly appears to be intentional, so this could have been hafted.
