ABOUT OUR BLADDER SNAILS
PK Endlers BLADDER SNAILS (physa acuta) 20 Pack.
Live & Healthy Bladder Snails, Mostly Juveniles.
Bladder Snails are the tiny comedians of the aquarium! You will find them diligently cleaning a single blade of grass, riding on a bigger snail, or traveling on the underside of the water's surface.
Sometimes bladder snails suddenly rise in the water column, and catch the current. That's because like fish, bladder snails have an air bladder that get them where they want to go in a relative hurry, compared to just snailing along.
Predominantly
brown in color, bladder snail shells are transparent. They grow from smaller than a sesame seed to approximately 1/4" - 1/2" long. With proper care, they can live to be about two years old.

WARNING: BLADDER SNAILS ARE FOREVER
Like duckweed, once you put bladder snails in an aquarium, it is very hard to get rid of them (although certain
predators
can be enlisted to help). Keep this in mind as you consider purchasing them.
Above is a picture (highly magnified) of what bladder snail eggs look like. They are tiny patches approx. 1/8" long, clear and hard to find. I had bladder snails laying eggs behind my internal water filters, but they can lay eggs anywhere in the aquarium.
Bladder snails are proliferate breeders. You'll often find them having snail orgies (ewwww). Similar to
daphnia
, your initial cluster of snails will multiply rapidly in a slightly dirty, established tank. Limit their numbers by keeping a clean tank with little food waste or organic matter.
TOO MANY BLADDER SNAILS - WHAT DO I DO?
ONE THING YOU SHOULD NEVER, EVER DO IS RELEASE THEM INTO THE WILD!
They will easily throw your local ecosystem out of balance. Don't even think about it.
So, what to do? Well, besides limiting their access to food, you can trade them at your local fish club or give them to a Local Fish Store (LFS) that sells puffer fish and/or other predatory fish. If you have enough of them, your LFS might buy them from you on a regular basis - as a food source!
