    CHILDREN’S VINTAGE HAND-MADE
    MINI MILLER-RACER
This race car (modeled after the famous “Miller Dirt Track Special” and trailer (child size and speed) were built during the mid-1930’s from plans in the “How To Build It” publication dated 1936 edition.
Metal body was not sheet steel but formed from auto thickness body type steel, around a wood ‘egg-crate’ frame and detail finished with lead body filler.  The original engine was an Iron Horse engine but later changed to a Lawson (now owned by Tecumseh).
The car was frequently used in local parades and events driven by youth.  The speed is about 4-5 mph and suitable for the purpose intended.
The car and trailer are titled as a “1937 Dodge Midget Roadster”.  The ‘legitimate title’ from 1937 is unlikely to have value today in terms of licensing, although it did at one time have license plates.
Replaced Lawson (originally was an Iron Horse washing machine engine) with a 3.5 HP Briggs, having to change much of the motor mountings and associated drive mechanism.  The clutching is by belt-tightening using Model-T hardware which is evident on the right side of the car.  Original tires changed from a unique Goodyear tire/tube combination design (ahead of its time) to regular tire and tube.  Since the rims changed, it necessitated having a shop machine new hub adaptors, to accommodate the new rims fitting the existing axle hubs.
Includes trailer.  Does not include the chrome air horn.  Trailer wheels and tires will need to be replaced.
Local Pickup only.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks
The Lauson engine that was in the race car is now listed for sale as one of my items.Dimensions: Trailer, 3 feet wide, 7 1/2 feet long, 3 1/2 feet tall. Car, 3 feet wide, 7 feet 6 inches long, 31 inches tall.
