Description
Here is a beautiful matching pair of ancient stone tomahawks from southern Barber County, Kansas. These were found along the Medicine Lodge River, northeast of Kiowa, Kansas, a couple of hundred feet from one another. These perfect tomahawks are from very hard, black river gravel, and are nearly the same size, 4 1/2" X 2 1/4" X 1/2", and 4 1/2" X 2 5/8" X 3/4".These are very rare to find in this color and condition. Included with them is an aerial photograph of the area with the location marked where they were found. Interestingly enough, note that the photo bears an image of a sitting Native American woman. Very cool and coincidental.
Stunning examples of pre-steel weapons from an area populated with Kiowa/Comanche Indians before the intrusion of White invaders.
