Wheels;
Are new aluminum construction. The are a gorgeous high polish finish. They are also American pattern wheels. Fronts wheels are 5" wide with a 2" inset. The rear wheels are 7.25" wide with a 2.5" inset.
Wheel Pattern Descriptions:
American pattern hubs and wheels have a three bolt pattern on a 2.5" circle. The hole in the center of your wheels will have a 1.75" size if it is American pattern. Another check to see if you have an American pattern wheel or wheel hub is to measure between neighboring stud holes. You will get approximately 2.125" c/l to c/l on an American wheel.
American wheels or hubs are drilled for 1/4" studs and nuts. Most American pattern hubs also have a set of 5/16" tapped holes for bigger studs and nuts. We do not provide the 5/16" hardware, and if you use this size you'll need to drill out your wheels to fit.
A metric wheel will have a 1.5" center hole (40 mm to be exact) and a smaller spacing on the studs. The c/l measurement on neighboring stud holes will be closer to 1 15/16" on the metric wheel or hub. The metric wheels and hubs also have a three bolt pattern that is on a 58 mm circle.
The metric hubs and wheels will be drilled for 8 mm studs and nuts.
Tires;
are used Hoosier brand, R55 compound. Tread is in the 50-75% range.
Optional Wheel Hub Sets;
Front Wheel Hubs;
this option is for four (4) front wheel hubs. All have bearings in and all will spin. The bearings have a 5/8" I.D. This option is for the Radio Flyer Wagon, hose reel, BBQ grill, War wagon toolbox, or whatever gets pushed or pulled. The hubs are American pattern to match the wheels.
Front Wheel Hubs and 1" Rear Drive Hubs;
This option has two (2) of the front bearing hubs described in item 1 above. It also includes two (2) rear drive hubs with American bolt pattern and 1" bore. The hubs include a 1/4 slot for a drive key, which is not included. This would be an option for something with an engine and rear drive wheels.
Front Wheel Hubs and 1.25" Rear Drive Hubs;
This option has two (2) of the front bearing hubs described in item 1 above. It also includes two (2) rear drive hubs with American bolt pattern and 1.25" bore. The hubs include a 1/4 slot for a drive key, which is not included.
This would be an option for something with an engine and rear drive wheels.
Radio Flyer axle adapters and Front Wheel Hubs;
this option is for four (4) front bearing wheel hubs and four (4) Radio Flyer axle adapters. Most coaster wagons have a 1/2" diameter axle that needs an adapter to fit the go kart front wheel hubs with the standard 5/8" I.D. bearing. The hub in turn adapts the wheel to the wagon. The adapters slide over that axle and setscrew in place. The hubs then slide on and are fastened with a provided lock nut. It may take less time to add your go kart wheels, hubs and adapters to the wagon than taking the original equipment wheels off.
Let the buyer beware;
You will find many different vendors of go kart wheels and tires on E-Bay. There are many offers of new aluminum rims with rain tires mounted. In all the different listings we've looked at none of them tell you what bolt pattern the wheels are. Universally the Chinese supplied wheels are metric pattern. Problem? Yes, finding wheel hubs to mount your wheels and tires on your wheeled creation in metric pattern is not an easy task. And if your new project is mostly inch sized components even finding metric pattern hubs for your wheels does not solve the problem. They will have metric sizes for bearings and axle shafts. Most metric front wheels come as a DSM or direct spindle mount wheel which means the bearings are an integral part of the wheel. They do not need a hub, but they will not fit your inch sized front spindles or axles. The wheels will have 15mm or 17mm or 25mm I.D. bearings installed. If you are welding a bolt on for a front axle to make you new wheels and tires spin you can not even buy a 15 or 17mm bolt, they do not make them. If you have a drive axle in your project you likely will want inch sized hubs. Metric rear hubs come in 30mm, 40mm, or 50mm bores. Finding shafting in those sizes is harder, but not as hard as finding the rest of the axle components. And the worst of all news is the metric hubs cost way more, even double that of the standard American pattern wheel hub.
