Here is the rescue for those who have purchased metric pattern go kart wheels and did not know it until they could not find wheel hubs to mate their wheels to their wheeled project. Their wheeled project that has inch sized components. This set is intended for a machine that needs spinning wheels on all four corners.Buyers will receive four wheel front hubs that have two bearings in each hub.
Details:
The front hubs are a metric bolt pattern that have 3 holes on a 58mm circle. The odd part of this hub is that the metric pattern is mated with a 5/8" I.D. bearing. An inch size bearing that you can use on a spindle with a 5/8" O.D. axle. The 8mm socket head cap screws and flange nuts pictured are included.
A metric wheel will have a 1.5" center hole (40 mm to be exact) and a smaller spacing between neighboring studs vs. an American pattern wheel. The c/l measurement on neighboring stud holes will be close to 1 15/16" on the metric wheel or hub. The metric wheels and hubs also have a three bolt pattern that is on a 58 mm circle.
The metric hubs and wheels will be drilled for 8 mm studs and nuts. That is the bolt pattern that is in these hubs. The majority of metric pattern hubs will have 15mm or 17mm I.D. bearings in them.
Pricing:
Not trying to punish buyers of metric pattern wheels with high price hubs. The issue with the hubs being almost twice the price of American pattern hubs is simply quantity. Right now somewhere there is a CNC machining center turning out the American pattern wheel hubs 24/7/365. And that machine is likely in China using very inferior aluminum. These hubs are made in the USA in small lots that makes the price what it is. But gosh, your metric wheels and tires are just sunk cost without the right hubs.
