Buck Rogers Galactic Play Set Rare Hand Sample Temporary Proof 1970’sThe original set was produced in 1979 and came with multiple final art work. This box has artwork, logo and litho variations not seen on mass produced boxes. Three typed stickers are applied to the box. One sticker above the S in Rogers reads
“This is a hand sample”. The other sticker applied directly over the content picture reads “Temporary proof, final parts not shown, not color corrected”
.
The last typed note reads "This is a hand sample. Box contents does not match box cover.
This box is empty and has no contents. The main picture and box have noticeable differences from the mass produced counterparts. Some of the main differences are the white figures on the space station, the Buck Rogers logo variation, the lack of “in the 25th century” under the Buck Rogers logo, space station with moveable ladder(mass produced boxes lack “with moveable ladder)”. Below is a brief description of the mass produced item when originally sold. Please note: This hand sample, temporary proof box is empty and has no contents. We believe this to be a salesman sample used for marketing the finished product. The original mass produced version came in an approx. 19”x15”x3" color box. The set contains over 35 Pieces by H-G Toys Inc. copyright 1979 Robert C. Dille. Set includes soft plastic figures for eight different characters as well as space commandos and aliens, Draconian Mauraders and Starfighters. Please note the box has heavy storage wear all over. One tear is located on the bottom right flap approx 2". Another tear is located in the main content art picture around the HG Toys logo. The tear goes through and is approx a little over an inch in size. The box top is not split on any corners and the staples are free of rust. The box bottom is the unique style of "locking" tabs to keep it together. This may have changed in final production. When looking down at the box top it appears pushed in as if something may have been stacked upon it.
