This beautifully handcrafted piece of face mask is made in our little workshop in Indonesia. The motif is drawn by hand using beeswax and then the fabric is dipped in dye to add the secondary color. The fabric is then boiled in hot water to remove the wax and dried before turning it into this timeless piece. As each piece is individually hand drawn there may be slight variances in the distribution of the print, which makes each dress 100% unique! Some of our fabric takes around 8-12 hours to develop.
These hand dyed batik fabrics are very breathable and light weight and are still have a high thread count. The creation of batiks is an ancient art that consists of dyeing and stamping wax prints onto fabric. The workmanship and technique of each artisan is what creates the beautiful patterns and colors that make batiks so desirable. While each artisan's workmanship is unique, so is each bolt of fabric. Without compromising the quality of the batik, slight variations in color and different consistencies in print are expected in each bolt of fabric.
For this reason, no two of these masks is exactly the same.
