    Description

Indian artifacts pre 1600 pipe. Raven style effigy Pipe. One of the top collectors in Ohio, told me years ago that the pipe was "contact period". He also told me that the stripes on the one wing of the first photo; represented feathers. His first name was Jan.
Other collectors say it might be Mississippian.
This is a green steatite/chlorite pipe with what looks like mica flecks in the stone. When you see it in the sun light with a glass, you can clearly see that its ancient. I think the photos pretty are decent, but it can be difficult to capture artifacts with photos.
I will be selling about half of my collection in the next few weeks.
This pipe is for pick-up only.  I think it is worth twice what I'm asking.
Some Photos come out brown and some more green. The golden brown patina on the wing in the first photo is the same ancient patina I have seen on ancient tube pipes.
Some photos show the black and brown patina; one side of the pipe is more brown, and the other green.
Usually pipes are held with the left hand and that is where the brown patina is located.
Also the hole where the stem went is angled toward the left side. / I think this pipe is in the family of "great pipes".
This is a really fine artifact.
Please don't purchase the pipe until after you look at it. I live in Cincinnati. Ohio, and the pipe is for pick up only.
This is the best artifact that I have ever owned. I have owned it for around 24 years,  I wont ship it for any reason.
    Thanks for looking.
