ANCIENT PACIFIC NORTHWEST COLUMBIA RIVER INDIAN STONE ATLATL WEIGHT ARTIFACT

Description

This is a gray stone artifact from Washington state, probably Columbia river area. It is 3" long and has an human,(or animal) face. The grooves that appear to divide the body into segments allowed it to be hafted/ bound to the end of an atlatl. The square part has animal and geometric designs scratched into the surface. This was found at a charity store in the Seattle area. so we have no provenance to offer. In some of the deeper grooves we find some calcification. See pics...email questions.
