Description
Fifty+ Juvenile Feeder Snails. Mix of sizes and ages for your feeder tank or to start your own colony. Excellent live food supply for Loaches, puffers etc...Shipped with USPS First Class.
Hello Everyone!
Listing a group of 50+ Plus live snails for those needing a live food supply. Excellent breeders for starting your own colony too. These will mostly be Pond or Bladder snails, but you may get an occasional Ramshorn or mini Ramshorn.
This grouping is a mix of sizes (ages), and can range from a couple
millimeters
to up to an Inch for the big mamas.
These do not eat live plants.
They will munch on dead or dying parts, and scrub away algae on leaves. That's about it.
These will breed in freshwater
, so if you are overfeeding, expect that you'll have quite a few generations soon!
I actually like to use my snail populations as bellwethers in my various community tanks.
If I see a sudden jump in egg clutches or babies, I know I need to back off feeding for a bit.
This isn't to say snails need to be fed at all anyway. They'll eat mulm and whatever scraps your fish leave around.
Keep no scraps around.
Snails love heavily planted tanks, and will not bother other community members such as shrimp etc...
However, Loaches, puffers and Cichlids will eat these snails.
If that's what you need them for, then awesome! Otherwise these are very chill dudes who will live peacefully in a planted freshwater aquarium.
These are kept in dechlorinated tap water; any old tap water will do.
Mine are about 65f in the winter (82f in the summer), 7.4 pH, and ~200ppm gh.
I have also tested these in some of my unheated, unfiltered Walstad tanks, and they do beautifully.
I have not had success keeping these in Reverse- Osmosis water (even remineralized), so I wouldn't recommend it.
Waters too soft? I throw in a chunk of cuttlebone (the kind for parakeets), and that keeps their shells strong. I've even heard of hobbyists crushing up calcium vitamin pills and spreading them in the water. Haven't tried that, but sounds good.
Due to the dilation on USPS shipping estimates this year, we will begin shipping ONCE A WEEK on Mondays. This is re: your feedback, and gives your live orders the best chance of making it to you safely before the weekend.
Much love, and be safe,
Cassandra
