    Description

In this auction we have 45 artifacts picked up by my family and me while walking the McIntosh Farm Site also known as the Great Gully Farm on the east side of Cayuga Lake below Union Springs, NY. These were found in the 1960s through the mid-1980s. Field walking was a fun and addictive family past time back then. Our children have no interest in the collection so I am going to find it a good home after 50+ years of curation. This assemblage is all from the McIntosh Farm except for 1 side notch point that came from our one and only stop at the Yawger Creek site north on Route 90 above Union Springs...not much there, we were lucky to find this! It is marked YC263. This frame has a nice selection of points including Susquehanna, Lamoka, Meadowood, Brewerton, etc. There is one copper triangle trade point. Most of the material is Onondaga but we do have some beautiful Western Onondaga (Diver's Lake) points represented. The largest point is 2 1/2" long. There are also a couple of scrapers. Dad & I used to like to coat our points with a light application of Aerowax...it was the "thing to do" back in the day. Feel free to wash it off. Also, Dad would occasionally try his hand at point repair on long CNY winter nights. Repair was not Dad's strong suit...only 2 points in this frame have dad's repair...see the last photo...the oddball long stemmed point has a new tip and the thin corner north point has a new tang and small corner of the base. Please look the photos over carefully. There are some really nice points in this collection...all but 1 from the same field with airtight provenance. How often do you see that? Lucky buyer please add .75 shipping.
