    Description

In this auction we offer 31 artifacts found at the Rene Menard Bridge Site on Route 90 in Cayuga County, New York...northeast end of Cayuga Lake. Dr. William Ritchie worked this site and wrote about his experiences there in 1941. All of these artifacts were found either by me or our family back in the 1960s and 1970s. I can personally vouch for their authenticity. These are field grade artifacts just as our family picked them out of Chase Travers' fields at Menard Bridge. Look at the photos carefully. Our kids have no interest in them so I am going to find a number of our artifacts good homes. This is a nice selection of mostly Archaic projectiles...Lamoka, Brewerton, and a "killer" little Brewerton eared triangle point. There are also 3 Levanna points. The largest item in the mix is a knife at 3 1/4". There is a gun flint. I don't know what to tell you about the pendant in the lower center. It feels like sandstone. We found it in the field. It's a bit unorthodox but looks like the real thing to me. So, all of these are from the same site. I will ship them in the Riker mount. I put extra layers of heavy foam padding between the points and "lock" them in place with the lid. I've had good luck shipping this way in the past. The heavy foam keeps the points from shifting. If some of the points look a bit shiny that's because Dad & I used to give them a coat of Aerowax (naturally) when we came in from the field. Hey, it was a "thing to do" back then. It can be soaked off if you prefer the more "natural" look. We've had these for 50+ years...time to let someone else enjoy them. Lucky buyer please add .75 shipping.
