Japanese Trapdoor Snails (Viviparus malleattus) will help keep algae in check and will reproduce quickly
Hornwort (Ceratophyllum demursum) is a fast growing, low maintenance, low light plant that will help increase water quality while giving fish shade and possibly places to reproduce.
Hornwort is a naturally floating plant and should be anchored if there is a fast moving current for overflows or filters
We recommend this package to ponds up to 3,000 gallons
The only thing we'd recommend adding would be mosquitofish
Japanese Trapdoor Snails would make a great addition to large fish tanks or outdoor ponds in your home garden. They are a peaceful snail that is great at knocking back and managing pesky algae growth. They get their name for their hard operculum, or "trapdoor" that protects their body when retracted. They are compatible with most fish, plants, and other inverts due to their size and peaceful demeanor.
Trapdoor snails are also livebearing snails, which means they reproduce at a fairly rapid rate. You will likely even see babies in the bag when you receive your order!
Trapdoor snails are highly flexible in their water conditions and are capable of surviving freezeovers, making them perfect for your outdoor ponds all year around!
Also included in this package is 1lb of Hornwort, which is a floating plant perfect for ponds. It grows rapidly which means it's sucking up all the excess nutrients in the water, keeping it clean and clear!
