Description
The2+2
is a full size muscle car manufactured by Pontiac, built on the B-body chassis. It debuted for the1964 model year as a trim-only option for the Catalina with special door panels, bucket seats with a center console, and exterior badging. Pontiac marketed the 2+2 as the "big brother" to the popular GTO. Beginning in 1965 the name Catalina was no longer found on the car, although it was still an option on the Catalina. The 2+2 was equipped with a 421 cu in (6.9 L) V8 engine,(428 cu in for 1967)
dual exhaust, heavy-duty front springs as well as unique exterior body trim. It continued on the same platform, but became a separate Pontiac series for the 1966 model year The 2+2 reverted to an option on the Catalina for 1967 ,the last year of production in the U.S.
This rare muscle car was purchased by me in 2009 and given a complete restoration. It is authenticated with documentation from the Pontiac Historical Society (PHS), plus
the original order form and invoice from Kole Pontiac in December of 1965 when it was purchased.I am the second titled owner of this rare car. As documented, the car was delivered with the WH code 421 cubic inch engine with tri-power and a M-20 4-speed trans. Other options included a center console,am radio, white wall tires, remote control mirror and a safety track rear end. The car still retains the #’s matching engine and transmission. Paint code PP and trim code 523 indicates that the factory colors are Barrier Blue with a matching blue bucket seat interior.
Currently the car is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition as very few miles have been put on since it was restored and has been kept in a climate controlled environment since I have owned it.
