    Acclimation and Care Guide
They eat everything and can be kept in small setups while they're small, but even so, 10 gallons minimum is recommended for juveniles and hiding spaces (caves, driftwood, etc) are essential. Make sure the tank is well aerated and filtered. Crays can drown if they can't surface in a poorly oxygenated environment. They can also live comfortably in shallow water, as long as they can come up to the surface to breathe. Driftwood, aquarium decorations or even a turtle deck will keep them happy.
They like to climb and can wonder out, so keep the tank covered.
The adults get to be about 4-5" in length and need least 30 gallons and lots of caves or other hiding spots where they'll feel comfortable during molting and "roosting". Weekly water changes and good filtration will keep them happy and healthy.
Several grown crays can be kept together (40+ gallons recommended) as long as there are enough places for them to hide. Marmorkrebs are opportunistic hunters and should not be housed with fish, shrimp, or other species of crayfish. They'll attempt to catch fish and pretty much whatever they can for dinner. Plus, they're excellent at controlling pest snails like Bladder snails and Ramshorns. Of course, with a crayfish around, such "pest" snails cease to be a pest! They'll even eat their eggs.
    Marbled Crayfish
    Procambarus sp. "Marmorkrebs"
Tank size: 10 gallons, with good filtration, for juveniles. 25+ gallons is recommended per one adult Crayfish.
    Adult size: 4-5"
Behavior: Scavenger, semi-aggressive and will stake out a piece of its own territory, such as a cave or other hiding spot. However, Marmorkrebs don't often get into spats with each other, and crays living together in the same tank usually don't fight to the point of losing their claws. Marmorkrebs have a reputation for being rather peaceful for a larger crayfish.
    Water type: Freshwater
Salinity: None to very, very low. Marmorkrebs have a low tolerance for salt.
    pH: 6.5 - 7.5
    Temperature: 64 - 77°F
    KH: 6-15 dKH
    Recommended additives, substrate, etc:
Crushed coral sand, montmorillonite clay, mineral blocks or cuttlebone as a calcium source
Kent's Marine Iodide (dosed at 1/2 teaspoon per 25 gallons, once monthly, essential for good molting)
Shrimp safe, copper-free fertilizer (provides magnesium and other micro elements to the cray)
Avoid COPPER. It's deadly to all invertebrates like snails, crayfish and shrimp.
    Diet:
Eats everything! Loves live food like snails, as well as shrimp pellets, algae wafers, zucchini, carrots, etc.
    Favorite Food:
Frozen Sweet Peas. They really love sweet peas!
Gender: All Marmorkrebs crayfish are female
    Life span:
    3-4+ years
    Replicates by self-cloning
NEVER release this potentially invasive species into a local waterway. This is a restricted/banned species in some US states including Idaho, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Michigan and Maryland. Please check your state laws before purchasing.
